The Tipsy Blackbird Story
Meet Celeste Hughes & Tara Hughes
Some connections feel like both coincidence and the universe quietly weaving together a couple of well-placed threads. The same last name, a love of wine, food, and community, and daughters who share a birthday. The more similarities we uncovered, the more it felt as though our paths were always meant to cross. Serendipity, synchronicity, or perhaps a little bit of magic.
Story of tipsy
We like to joke that Tipsy Blackbird began with an accidental manifestation.
As regular customers of the previous wine bar, we could see its potential. Over glasses of wine, we dreamed about the events we would host, the changes we would make, and the welcoming community gathering place it could become. We never imagined it would actually happen, until the opportunity appeared and we jumped.
We took over on December 1, 2025, just days before Krampusnacht, with 15 wine glasses, no inventory, full-time careers, and no experience owning a wine bar. With an incredible amount of help from our husbands, friends, and family, we somehow brought Tipsy Blackbird to life.
Perhaps it was luck, community, or proof that those conversations over wine were more powerful than we realized.
Making the magic happen
And the magic doesn’t stop with the two of us. Tipsy Blackbird is truly a family affair. Celeste’s husband, Jim, keeps things running in the kitchen. Tara’s husband, Greg, brings the music and tackles our many projects, while her daughter, Sienna, helps hold it all together in both the front and back of house. And of course we couldn’t do it without our amazing staff, Sean and Jaime!
We’re incredibly grateful to be part of the downtown Bremerton community and to create a place where people can connect over wine, food, music, and wonderfully unique events.
